For the audio, I used the clean up in the 3ds Max 2012 sound panel. I used the Ambisonics format as it is simple to export and doesn’t require any additional plugins. I also used the new-ish Snooper for the Vray overlay audio in the background.
If you want to see the complete project, you can download the file here and follow the link under the video to see the complete project. In the future I will add some more sounds and try to get the audio file to a better quality. Hopefully I will be able to keep it under the 2 minute mark. Also, if you want to see the model in 3ds Max, it is available under the link above.
The music was created using the FL Studio 20 (MXH) and the synths in the video were created in the Max/MSP platform. It took me a few days to create the hand animation, but I'm happy with the result and the little story I created around it.
While I'm not usually a big fan of pre-compositions, I had to use them in this project to get the best possible looking video out of the camera. Mostly the workflow is the following: The camera is connected to the left or right camera slot in 3ds Max. For the stills I set the camera to use the real cameras' native FOV. Then I set the perspective of the stills to the same horizontal and vertical FOV as the native FOV of the camera. This makes sure that the camera and its native FOV doesn't appear distorted in the stills.
I used three different lighting setups to achieve the video look. One with global illumination, one with spotlights and one with indirect lighting from a sun light. In the end I was not happy with the results, so I kept the indirect lighting, but changed the spotlights in the sky to parabolas and the sun to a very simple point light. The settings are in the 3ds Max file.
The Synergies mod makes it so that the vanilla Diablo 3 content is not only tweaked, but also expanded upon. The result is incredible. This mod is like a massive, old-fashioned expansion pack for the game. 827ec27edc
